Canadian banking giant Scotiabank has made several key appointments to its senior leadership team, including the creation of a new role for digital transformation and significant changes in finance, auditing, and human resources.

Facts

  • Aris Bogdaneris has been appointed as the group head for digital transformation, Tangerine, marketing, and analytics, starting from 1 September. He will oversee Scotiabank’s digital banking business, Tangerine, and lead global marketing, customer insights, data analytics, and real estate. Bogdaneris previously held positions at ING, including global head of retail banking and head of challenger and growth markets.
  • Paul Baroni, who has a 22-year tenure at Scotiabank, has been named EVP of finance and chief financial officer for the Canadian Banking business.
  • Maria Theofilaktidis has been appointed as EVP and chief auditor.
  • Chris Manning is now EVP of global business payments.
  • Anique Asher has been named EVP of finance and strategy, with an additional mandate overseeing capital management.
  • Jenny Poulos will become deputy chief human resources officer (CHRO) effective 2 October and will assume the CHRO role on 4 December, succeeding Barb Mason, who is retiring after 41 years with the bank.
