Danish fintech Januar has received a Payment Institution licence from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (DFSA) which will allow the company to onboard clients from across the European Economic Area (EEA).

Facts

  • Januar, a financial infrastructure provider for crypto businesses, has secured a full Payment Institution licence from the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority (DFSA).
  • The licence will now allow Januar to onboard clients from across the European Economic Area (EEA).
  • Januar equips crypto businesses with IBAN infrastructure, allowing them to carry out payments and operational transactions through a compliant EU-based IBAN business account.
  • Traditional financial institutions often reject or offboard compliant crypto businesses simply due to their sector of activity.
  • Januar provides access to critical financial services that crypto businesses need to operate and ensures that they don’t get de-banked even if they can get an account in the first place.
  • In April 2022, Januar secured a €6 million seed round led by Element Ventures, with participation from Angular Ventures, Outward VC, and early pre-seed investors byFounders.
