Lloyds Banking Group names Rohit Dhawan as new group director of AI and advanced analytics

New Role: Rohit Dhawan has been appointed as the director of AI and advanced analytics at Lloyds Banking Group, a newly created position.
Responsibilities: Dhawan will oversee Lloyds’ AI Centre of Excellence, shaping the bank’s strategy for AI, machine learning, and advanced analytics. He will report directly to Ranil Boteju, the chief data and analytics officer.
AI Adoption: Dhawan is tasked with promoting the adoption of AI-driven products and services to enhance the experience for Lloyds’ 27 million customers.
Previous Experience: Dhawan joins Lloyds from Amazon Web Services, where he was the regional head of data and AI strategy for Asia-Pacific. He has also served as a director in Accenture’s applied intelligence group.
Lloyds’ Digital Focus: Lloyds Banking Group is undergoing a major transformation, focusing on digital technologies and data to better support its customers.
Technology Hiring: Lloyds has hired 1,500 technology and data specialists this year, totaling over 4,000 in the past two and a half years.
AI Initiatives: The bank is piloting more than 50 AI and analytics use cases, including improving chatbot quality, detecting early fraud indicators, and speeding up customer support.
